The Trump campaign suffered a second plane mechanical issue within the space of a week after Vice presidential nominee J.D. Vance‘s flight made an emergency landing in Milwaukee.
Former president Donald Trump’s plane made an emergency landing on Aug. 9 in Billings, Montana, just 150 miles from its intended destination of Bozeman.
The plane was suffering from mechanical issues, according to CBS News.
According to Trump campaign spokeswoman Taylor Van Kirk, Vance’s plane, a Boeing 737-86J referred to as “Trump Force Two,” landed at the Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport four minutes after takeoff because of a door seal malfunction.
“The pilot advised there was a malfunction with the door seal,” the Trump campaign spokeswoman said.

However, the issue was quickly resolved, and the flight proceeded on its trip to Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport, the spokeswoman said.

Vance’s plane remained on the tarmac for over an hour before rectifying the problem.
Vance was traveling with his wife, Usha, advisor, Secret Service agents, journalists, and his dog, Atlas.

According to the outlet, secret Service agents onboard initially “reacted with confusion and laughter” as it was reported that they are uncertain there was an emergency at first.
The news comes amid increasing scrutiny against Boeing following a series of issues affecting their 737 Max jets, which were involved in two crashes in 2018 and 2019, leaving 346 dead.
Recently, Boeing paid a $243.6 million fine after striking a plea deal with the Department of Justice in July and pleading guilty to criminal fraud.
Vance’s Boeing 737-86J is 22 years old.
The plane Trump was initially taking to his Montana rally, “Trump Force One,” is a Boeing 757 built-in 1991.

The New York Times reported that The Federal Aviation Administration directed all inquiries to the Trump-Vance campaign.
The concerns surrounding the former president’s safety have become heightened following his assassination attempt during a July 13 rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.
