Former White House physician for Presidents Barack Obama and Donald Trump has said that Joe Biden’s mental decline is a national security concern amid reports the president is struggling to function behind closed doors.
Rep. Ronny Jackson (R-TX) made the remarks after the Wall Street Journal reported that Biden has struggled so much at times that officials have wondered if he’s even awake.
According to the report, Biden did not know details about his own policies or whether they had been implemented.
The president also forgot negotiations that had already been solidified while making bizarre remarks to lawmakers.
“The article’s just documenting what I’ve been saying all along: he’s not fit to be the commander in chief,” Jackson said.
“He’s got significant issues, he shouldn’t have the job. You know, it’s a national security issue for us.”
The Journal spoke with Democrats and Republicans for its report, leading Jackson to believe that the Left might be laying the groundwork to remove Biden.
“I think that the fact that it came out like this, and is so well sourced, tells me that this might be the left’s first attempt to start laying the groundwork to get rid of him,” he said.
Last May, Jackson demanded Biden take a cognitive test or drop out of his recently announced 2024 presidential race.
Jackson has been calling into question Biden’s cognitive ability for years. He has now renewed his calls for the president to take a mental evaluation in the wake of seeking reelection.
In a letter obtained by The New York Post, Jackson wrote:
“We call on you to either resign immediately and renounce your bid for reelection or submit to a clinically validated cognitive screening assessment and make those results available to the public,” the letter, which is addressed to Biden, says.
Jackson also insisted it is imperative Joe Biden take a cognitive test due to his gaffes, and abysmal poll numbers, all of which show Biden’s mental health is under scrutiny.
“When you first announced your bid to run in the 2020 presidential election, questions and concerns were raised surrounding your cognitive abilities,” the letter says.
Jackson began as a physician to the president in July 2013, serving until l March 28, 2018.
Jackson served as WHMU director from March 2010 through December 2014, and also as the first chief medical advisor to the president from February 2019 until December 2019.
