Former Vice President Mike Pence spoke out against President Donald Trump in the wake of his latest indictment in Georgia regarding the 2020 election.
During a speech at the National Conference of State Legislatures Legislative Summit in Indianapolis, the former VP said the 2020 election “was not stolen” in the Peach State.
“Despite what the former president and his allies have said for now more than two and a half years and continue to insist to this very hour,” Pence said.
“The Georgia election was not stolen, and I had no right to overturn the election on Jan ,” Mike Pence said.
Pence added, “It’s a hard truth.”
Watch
Earlier this week, Trump was indicted on 13 counts regarding alleged efforts to overturn the 2020 election results in Georgia.
Trump has now been indicted four times.
Pence said he had previously “hoped that judgment about those days would be left to the American people and to history,” noting, “such is not the case.”
Pence continued:
“All those implicated [in the indictment] are entitled to the presumption of innocence that every American enjoys,” he added that “no one is above the law.”
Pence also praised Georiga Gov. Brian Kemp for his response to the Georgia indictment.
“For nearly three years now, anyone with evidence of fraud has failed to come forward — under oath — and prove anything in a court of law,” Kemp said.
“Our elections in Georgia are secure, accessible, and fair and will continue to be as long as I am governor.”
Meanwhile, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene blasted Kemp for “arguing with” Trump rather than being against the indictment.
On Tuesday, Trump announced he would hold a press conference addressing his fourth indictment, predicting a “complete EXONERATION” after what he described as a “Large, Complex, Detailed but Irrefutable REPORT on the Presidential Election Fraud which took place in Georgia.”
“A Large, Complex, Detailed but Irrefutable REPORT on the Presidential Election Fraud which took place in Georgia is almost complete & will be presented by me at a major News Conference at 11:00 A.M. on Monday of next week in Bedminster, New Jersey,” Trump said in a Truth Social post on Tuesday morning.
“Based on the results of this CONCLUSIVE Report, all charges should be dropped against me & others – There will be a complete EXONERATION!” Trump said of the indictment.
“They never went after those that Rigged the Election. They only went after those that fought to find the RIGGERS!”
