Republican Vice Presidential nominee J.D Vance has compared giving Kamala Harris the task of lowering inflation to putting the child sex predator Jeffrey Epstein in charge of human trafficking policy.
“Giving Kamala Harris control over inflation policy, Shannon, it’s like giving Jeffrey Epstein control over human trafficking policy,” Vance told “Fox News Sunday” anchor Shannon Bream.
“They don’t buy the idea that Kamala Harris represents a fresh start. She is more of the same. It is doubling down on the failed policies of the [current] administration.”
Vance’s comments come following Harris’ announcement of her economic policies as she tries to repair her standing with voters who view the Biden-Harris administration as responsible for soaring inflation over the last three and a half years.
Harris promised to ban “price-gouging,” attempting to deflect the blame onto high prices on companies.
She also said she would create a $25,000 tax credit for first-time homebuyers, increasing the child tax credit to $6,000, among other policy changes.
“My plan will include new penalties for opportunistic companies that exploit crises and break the rules,” Harris said at a campaign event, per CNN.
Economist James Roberts expressed concern over Harris’ “price-gouging” proposal, saying it could cause more problems than it would solve and “would keep new competition from moving in to take advantage of the bigger profit margins — competition that could have helped lower prices in the long run.”
Other economists compared the policy changes to governmental price control.
“Our message is going to be very simple. If you want to get back to the peace and prosperity, the rising take-home pay, Donald Trump delivered it once and he can do it again,” Vance argued.
“If you want to double down on the failed policies that have delivered higher food prices and higher housing prices, well, Kamala Harris has been vice president for three and a half years, and I guarantee she’s going to make the problem worse.”
Harris and Trump are currently involved in a tight race, with the RealClearPolitics polling average showing Harris edging out Trump with a 1.5% lead.
Harris and Trump are currently involved in a tight race, a significant change from the time of the Biden campaign, after the president dropped out of the race after a disastrous June debate.
“The polls tend to radically overstate Democrats,” Vance said regarding the polls.
“We have certainly seen is that Kamala Harris got a bit of a sugar high a couple of weeks ago. But what we’ve actually seen from our own internal data, Shannon, is that Kamala Harris has already leveled off.”
“I’m telling you, every single person who’s watching this, the Trump campaign is in a very, very good spot. We’re going to win this race. We just have to run through the finish line,” he added.
