X owner Elon Musk sounded the alarm over Vice President Kamala Harris‘ pledge to establish an “earned pathway to citizenship” for illegal migrants who are in the United States.
The pledge, which is on Harris’ campaign website, came just before her debate with former President Donald Trump on Tuesday night.
Musk accused Democrats of planning to grant mass amnesty to illegal immigrants in order to boost votes for their candidates, a claim he and other Republicans have repeatedly warned of.
According to the Tesla owner, the “15 million illegal migrants,” in addition to “bringing in tens of millions more,” would also most instantly “make all swing states deep blue.”
Musk warned this would turn “America into a permanent one-party state.”
He went on to cite California‘s 1986 amnesty push.
The vice president’s website has already drawn criticism for its perceived lack of detail.
However, Harris’ stance is what’s really raising eyebrows.
“She knows that our immigration system is broken and needs comprehensive reform that includes strong border security and an earned pathway to citizenship,” declares the website.
The proposal stands in stark contrast to Trump’s hardline approach, who vowed to implement a mass deportation initiative targeting illegal migrants if re-elected.
Musk commented on a report that Denver, Colorado, funneled COVID-19 funds to house thousands of illegal immigrants in shelters.
“This will keep getting worse until the politicians responsible are voted out of office,” Musk said.
Furthermore, critics argue that Harri’s website offers little new ideas to address the ongoing border crisis.
“As President, she will bring back the bipartisan border security bill and sign it into law,” the website states, without elaborating on additional measures.
Trump’s running mate, Senator JD Vance of Ohio, responded to the proposal, warning that offering citizenship to millions of illegal immigrants would act as a “gigantic magnet” for further illegal immigration, as outlined by the Post.
Harris’ call for a pathway to citizenship isn’t new. She advocated for this approach even as he oversaw record-breaking numbers of migrant crossings into the U.S.
