Former president Donald Trump said he is now the political prisoner of a failing nation” after being found guilty by a Manhattan jury in his business records trial.
In a video posted to Truth Social, the former president declared November 5 as “the most important day in the history of our country.”
Last week, a jury found Trump guilty of 34 counts of falsifying business records related to payments that his former fixer and attorney, Michael Cohen, made to porn star Stormy Daniels during the 2016 presidential election.
“I am the political prisoner of a failing nation,” Trump began.
“But, I will soon be free, on November 5, the most important day in the history of our country.”
“And, we will, together, make America great again. Thank you.”

Trump told reporters that this had been “done by the Biden administration in order to hurt an opponent, a political opponent,” describing it as a “rigged decision.”
The former president said the “real verdict” would be on “November 5 by the people.”
Just days after the guilty verdict, the Trump campaign and the Republican National Committee (RNC) received a flood of donations, raising $141 million in May.
The Trump campaign had revealed 24 hours after Trump’s conviction it received almost $53 million in donations.
Trump’s son, Eric Trump, whose wife is Republican National Committee co-chair Lara Trump, made the revelation on Fox’s “Sunday Morning Features” with host Maria Bartiromo.
“This might be a little inside information, but as I was leaving my house about 37 seconds ago, I asked my wife, what are we up to now?” Eric Trump said.
“And [Lara] said, just in terms of small dollar, we’re well over $70 million.”
According to a poll conducted by HarrisX, 43 percent of people said they would vote for Trump if the election were to occur today, while 42 percent said they would vote for Biden.
