A San Diego police officer has resigned after body camera footage captured him locked in the backseat of his car with a female detainee who reportedly propositioned him for sex.
Officer Anthony Hair left his position after an investigation into the incident was launched.
Hair encountered the female suspect after arresting her on suspicion of car theft, CBS 8 reported.
The unnamed woman was one of two suspects in the car theft and had an outstanding bench warrant for her arrest.
Hair was supposed to transport the suspect to police headquarters and the Las Colinas Detention Center in Santee, California.

However, body camera footage revealed the detainee’s alleged proposition to Officer Hair.
The woman proceeded to express a desire for sexual activity after initiating a conversation about his marital status.
Hair cautioned her about the recording equipment, emphasizing the potential consequences of her remarks.”
“You’re not too bad. What’s it gonna hurt me if I work the system, you know what I mean?” she told Hair.
“That’s the way I see s–t.”
“Are you single?” she added, to which he responded, “Yeah, but you’re not.”
“I’m down to f–k right now,” she told him, before he interrupts, “Don’t say that right now … Don’t say that right now because everything is being recorded right now.”
Hair turned off his body camera and diverted onto a residential street before contacting a fellow officer for assistance, describing the situation as embarrassing.
“I asked him if he was okay. He said yes, and then asked if I had my patrol car key with me … I asked why he was asking and what did he need,” the unidentified officer said of Hair, describing him as panicked.
“Officer Hair then asked me if I could go meet him.”
“I asked him his location and he said, near Cottonwood … I asked him why he needed me, and he said he would tell me when I got there. He said he was really embarrassed.”
Hair asserted that he believed the woman was experiencing a medical emergency, and denied inappropriate conduct.
He explained that he was merely “checking” on the suspect in the backseat.
But San Diego police subsequently discovered traces of semen on Hair’s belt, CBS reported.
The female detainee also claimed that Hair had expressed interest in her after her release.
“When I was waking her up, that’s when I noticed that this door closed on me. That’s when I was trying to kind of open the door,” Hair said in the video.
