King Charles has been admitted to hospital to undergo treatment for an enlarged prostate, according to an announcement from Buckingham Palace.
Charles, 75, was transported to London Clinic private hospital where he will undergo the procedure.
The London Clinic private hospital is the same facility where Catherine, the Princess of Wales, was admitted for planned abdominal surgery last week.
The People reported the King visited the Princess of Wales, 42 on Friday, ahead of his own surgery to treat an enlarged prostate.
According to the outlet:
“Charles was photographed arriving with Queen Camilla at the London Clinic, the same hospital where Kate underwent surgery on Jan. 16. Buckingham Palace confirmed in a statement on Friday that the King had been admitted to a London hospital for “scheduled treatment.”
Kensington Palace announced Kate’s surgery in a statement on Jan. 17. “The surgery was successful, and it is expected that she will remain in hospital for ten to fourteen days before returning home to continue her recovery,” the statement read. “Based on the current medical advice, she is unlikely to return to public duties until after Easter.”
According to the BBC, King Charles will travel from Sandringham to London for a “corrective procedure” for his enlarged prostate, a gland that sits just below the bladder.
Enlarged prostates are common in older men, according to the NHS.

According to statistics, around one in three men over the age of 50 will have some symptoms of an enlarged prostate.
The risk of prostate cancer is no greater for men with an enlarged prostate than it is for men without an enlarged prostate,” the NHS says on its website.
The medical treatment will not require any constitutional changes for the King’s role as head of state.
This week, a third royal, Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York and the ex-wife of Prince Andrew and the mother of Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, was admitted to hospital after being diagnosed with malignant melanoma, a form of skin cancer.
The cancer was discovered during treatment for her breast cancer.
“Naturally another cancer diagnosis has been a shock, but I’m in good spirits and grateful for the many messages of love and support,” said the duchess, who was formerly married to Prince Andrew.
