War Veteran, 95, Kicked Out of NY Nursing Home to House Illegal Migrants

A Korean War veteran was ordered to leave his Staten Island nursing home in New York City to make way for illegal migrants that are currently overwhelming the city.

Frank Tammaro, a 95-year-old war veteran, was given just six weeks to get out of the Island Shores Senior Residence after being sold to the city in August so they could house illegal migrants.

The news of the eviction sparked furious protests when the first load of migrants was bussed to the facility after the elderly veteran was thrown out.

“The thing I’m annoyed about is how they did it; it was very disgraceful what they did to the people in Island Shores,” Tammaro said during a press conference.

“One day there was a notice on the board, I think that gave us a month and a half to find out where we were going to go,” he added.

‘I thought my suitcases were going to be on the curb because I’m not that fast,” the War Vet continued.

“If it wasn’t for my daughter, they would’ve been on the curb. That was it,” he noted.

“I said, ‘No, no, no, no, you’re not moving me,’ and they said, ‘Yes, yes, yes we are,” he added.

“Everything was done behind closed doors – we didn’t have a chance to actually make any attempt to stop them because there wasn’t enough time,” he said, according to The Daily Mail.

Over 113,000 undocumented migrants have flooded New York after crossing the southern border since last year.

New York City Mayor Eric Adams accused Joe Biden of destroying New York City with his migrant crisis.

“The city is being destroyed by the migrant crisis,” Adams said last month.

Adams also blasted New York City officials for not fighting hard enough to get federal resources to New York City.

“And none of my folks came to Washington, DC, to fight for the resources that are going to undermine every agency in our city,” Adams added.

Another 233,000 were recorded crossing the border last month.

The migrant crisis is so bad that around 100 hotels have been turned into shelters in New York, including The Paul Hotel, The Paramount Hotel, and the Roosevelt, which houses 3,000.

Adams is planning to spend an extra $1 billion of taxpayers’ money to house migrants for the next three years, as the city’s public services are facing massive cuts to pay for it.

“The migrant crisis has evolved into a financial boondoggle, with quietly extended contracts fattening the pockets of a few at the taxpayer’s expense,” said Democratic Queens Councilman Robert Holden.

According to the city planner, it will cost $ 4.7 billion this year alone to house migrants – equal to the budget for the city’s entire sanitation, fire, and parks departments.

Adams has warned the cost could balloon to $ 15 billion over three years, noting that meals for senior citizens and daycare are at risk.

Adams has now desperately turned to various city landmarks for makeshift shelters and temporary housing as short-term solutions for the migrants.

Meanwhile, officials have kept quiet about how many hotel rooms have been designated for migrants.

However, hotel industry experts believe the number is as many as 10,000, as reported by The City.

“Never in my life have I had a problem that I did not see an ending to,” the Mayor said earlier this month.

“We are about to experience a financial tsunami that I don’t think the city has ever experienced,” Adams said.

“Every service in this city is going to be impacted, from child service to our seniors to housing,” he continued.

“This issue will destroy New York City.”

The US Department of Homeland Security recently dispatched a small team to New York City to determine how the federal government should respond.

So far, the government has promised the city $140 million to help, but the city has yet to receive any of that money.

Adams also condemned the ‘ugly display’ from a ‘numerical minority’ who greeted migrants with protests at the Staten Island facility.

“I understand the frustration that New Yorkers are going through and understand the frustration that asylum seekers are experiencing as well,” he said.

City councilor Nicole Malliotakis blasted the eviction of the war veteran so the city could house illegal migrants, saying that ‘our country and our city’s priorities are backward.’

“My blood pressure went through the roof when I found out Homes for the Homeless cut a deal with the City of New York to turn Island Shores into a migrant shelter,” the GOP lawmaker said.

“Our tax dollars as citizens of New York should not be utilized to house citizens of other countries, especially at the expense of our senior citizens and veterans who put their lives on the line, paid taxes their whole lives and built our communities,” she added.
