President Donald Trump and his 18 co-defendants named in the recent Georgia election indictment will be booked at the Fulton County jail after they voluntarily surrender later in August, according to the Sheriff’s office.
“At this point, based on guidance received from the District Attorney’s office and presiding judge, it is expected that all 19 defendants named in the indictment will be booked at the Rice Street Jail,” said Fulton County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Natalie Ammons told Axios.
Fulton County Jail is located on Rice Street, northwest of downtown Atlanta, and has housed over 3,000 inmates in recent years.
“Keep in mind, defendants can turn themselves in at any time. The jail is open 24/7,” the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office statement continued in relation to the Georgia Trump indictment.
“Also, due to the unprecedented nature of this case, some circumstances may change with little or no warning,” the spokeswoman said.
Earlier this month, the Daily Fetched reported the Democratic Sheriff of Fulton County, Georgia, appeared to gush over the prospect of getting a mugshot of Trump.
Fulton County Sheriff Pat Labat said he was prepared to treat Trump as any other alleged criminal, and appeared to be unable to hold in his excitement at the prospect of getting a mugshot of Trump, according to comments he made to WSB-TV.
“Unless somebody tells me differently, we are following our normal practices, and so it doesn’t matter your status; we’ll have a mugshot ready for you,” Labat told the network.
Trump was charged with 13 counts in relation to his efforts to dispute the results of the 2020 election in Georgia.
The charges include:
- Violation of Georgia’s Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO Act)
- Solicitation of violation of oath by a public officer
- Conspiracy to commit forgery in the first degree
- Conspiracy to commit filing of false documents, among others.
The latest indictment is the fourth bought against Trump so far this year.
Trump has denied all wrongdoing.
On Tuesday, Trump announced he would hold a press conference addressing his fourth indictment, predicting a “complete EXONERATION” after what he described as a “Large, Complex, Detailed but Irrefutable REPORT on the Presidential Election Fraud which took place in Georgia.”
“A Large, Complex, Detailed but Irrefutable REPORT on the Presidential Election Fraud which took place in Georgia is almost complete & will be presented by me at a major News Conference at 11:00 A.M. on Monday of next week in Bedminster, New Jersey,” Trump said in a Truth Social post on Tuesday morning.
“Based on the results of this CONCLUSIVE Report, all charges should be dropped against me & others – There will be a complete EXONERATION!” Trump said of the indictment.
“They never went after those that Rigged the Election. They only went after those that fought to find the RIGGERS!”
